Three of our MCTV people Stephen, Kalpesh and Blake are over the moon this week having landed a huge role each in a new MenuLog commercial.
I think some of them are still in shock! Sure everyone dreams of landing a big role, but sometimes you just aren’t prepared for the reality of it.
Really, most MCTV people just enjoy the variety of going out to different film and TV sets getting paid a decent hourly rate as a background actor. Of course, there’s always that chance of getting paid big $$$ for a main role but that’s just icing on the cake.
Put yourself in their shoes for a moment…
You go along to castings and auditions for main roles hoping, but not expecting to get the job. Then you get a callback. You think, this is looking good, but you don’t want to get your hopes up.
You wait as patiently as you can, for that phone call to let you know if you got the role. You tell yourself, you don’t mind if you don’t get the role, but secretly you hope and pray. Then, finally your prayers are answered and you can’t really believe it’s true. Why did they pick you? Out of everyone who went for the role?
Now your thoughts turn to the actual day. Will I be nervous on set? Will I muck up my lines? You remind yourself that it’s normal to be nervous and that you will be working with professionals who have done this all before.
Then you remember how much you are going to get paid for the day and you pinch yourself.
