Year Of – Coming Soon

May 19, 2023/in Acting and Extras Work in Sydney /by MCTV

Highly anticipated ‘Bump’ spinoff, ‘Year Of’ is almost here and if the trailer is anything to go by it is going to be full of all the emotional ups and downs we have come to love in ‘Bump‘. It’s also full of loads of Aussie up and coming talent and heaps of awesome Sydney locations.

‘Year Of’  follows a circle of friends and their community through their final two years at the harbour front Jubilee High School (introduced to audiences in ‘Bump’), as they navigate a tragic event that upturns each of their lives forever.

Described as an intergenerational dark dramedy, ‘Year Of’ promises not to shy away from discussions of the class divide, drug use, complex family dynamics and the nuances of privilege.

Congratulations to the 110 MCTV members who worked on this one. Looking forward to seeing the whole series from June 9 on Stan.

Equity Award Winners Announced

May 12, 2023/in Acting and Extras Work in Sydney /by MCTV

The annual Equity Ensemble Awards were held last Sunday night with almost all winners including MCTV talent. The awards were started in 2011 by the Media, Entertainment & Arts Alliance’s Equity Foundation to celebrate Australian actors and the Australian stories the tell on the small screen.

‘Colin from Accounts‘ (Foxtel/Binge) took out the Comedy category, with the judges commenting “The supporting actors and the leads formed a cohesive unit and the series was richer for it. Most importantly, we found ourselves laughing out loud throughout!”. 64 MCTV extras appeared in this.

The Miniseries winner was ‘Significant Others‘ (ABCTV), in which a family struggles to piece together their lives after a loved one vanishes. 35 MCTV extras appeared on this one. ‘Barons‘ (ABCTV) and ‘The Twelve‘ (Foxtel) were runners up in this category and included 16 and 56 MCTV members, respectively.

The Drama category was taken out by ‘Mystery Road’ series 2. ‘Heartbreak High‘ (Netflix) was runner up which included 114 MCTV members.

It has been a great year for Aussie and specifically Sydney productions as showcased by these awards. Congratulations to all nominees and winners. Thank you and well done to all the MCTV members who contributed to the success of these productions, great effort!

Pay rise!

May 7, 2023/in Acting and Extras Work in Sydney /by MCTV

Hourly pay rates recently went up. This now means you can expect to earn a base rate of $123.44 for 4 hours work. Featured extras get paid about 40% more. Loadings can add 25-50% more. Overtime, holiday and other allowances get paid on top. Residuals pay you again for work you’ve already done and TV commercials and print campaigns pay up to $10K for a day.

There are also perks to being on set like meeting great people, free catering and getting to see behind the scenes.

While the pay can be very good, mostly people do extras work for fun, as it is irregular and can be infrequent. Getting paid is a bonus!!

You can read the full details of all the ways to get paid in film and TV and how to apply here.

Stan has announced new series ‘Ten Pound Poms’ will premiere on May 15. The BBC/Stan co-production was filmed in Sydney and NSW. The series will also be released in the UK on May 14.

The 6 x 1 hour episodes follow a group of Brits as they leave dreary post-war Britain in 1956 to embark on a life-altering adventure on the other side of the world.

The show stars UK actors Faye Marsay (‘Game of Thrones’) and Michelle Keegan (‘Coronation Street’, ‘Brassic’) and local talent.

Congratulations to the 21 MCTV members who worked on this one – some who got ten weeks worth of work!

No news is good news!!

April 26, 2023/in Acting and Extras Work in Sydney /by MCTV

This newsfeed has been quiet over the last couple of weeks, but the office has been really busy with heaps of bookings and submissions for the latest Sydney productions – Prosper, Paper Dolls, House of God, Mother and Son and Strife.

We have also been sending people to the unnamed Will Gluck rom-com starring Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell. You can check out a recent shoot on Maroubra Beach here.

We also had our first casting for 100 people last week for a new international series, hopefully the first of many. Can’t say too much but it will be huge for Sydney.

More good news to come…

Dragana Gambiroza-Lazic

I’ve been with MCTV for a few years now and found them wonderful. I’ve had a much better experience than with my last agency and am particularly impressed by their management of my daughter through Joey’s

Elizabeth Bouris

Within my first month, I’ve been considered 3 times, got an audition for a TVC, and then a call back. And even a job offer with a leading Bank.
I signed my children with the agency & while I was at the office, Paul gave us a casting for the kids the same afternoon.

M.C.T.V has been very good to me for over three years now! I do appreciate their efforts in finding me work in four major motion pictures and other jobs
