APTCH

If Wake in Fright is not your thing then perhaps the new season of A Place to Call Home is more up your alley. They both hit our screens on Sunday night at 8:30pm (thank god for catchup). So, we’ll have MCTV people competing for your eyeballs on two new shows at exactly the same time. I’m guessing there will be a few ads with MCTV people in-between as well. That’s a lot of MCTV people on our screens in a very short amount of time.  Good on you one and all.

If you were one of the 59 MCTV background and featured actors who joined Rose Byrne to film Peter Rabbit in Centennial Park, you’ll be excited to see the new trailer. it looks a little cheeky but also entertaining for the little ones. The soundtrack for the trailer is great and I love the scene where they are partying in the house. Looking forward to this one.

A new series has been shooting over the past few weeks in Manly and MCTV people have been on set with Ash Ricardo and Todd Lasance shooting new scenes. The Daily Telegraph believes it will “have an element of shark bite victims in the story”. We can’t divulge any information about the production until the production goes to air. If it’s anything like the other series we work on, production will be continuing for several months.

Well done to everyone who posted a selfie or attended the launch event. It seems that all the hard work might actually pay off. According to IF magazine, the parliamentary inquiry that is underway in this area will focus on Jobs and growth for the local industry. There’s also talk of raising the location offset across the board which should help bring many more productions down under.

World’s largest film stage on our doorstep

Qingdao Movie Metropolis (Pronounced Chyingtao) is scheduled to officially open in August 2018 but MCTV people have already been involved in a production that was filmed at the enormous facility. Pacific Rim 2 filmed earlier this year in Sydney, Brisbane and the Qingdao facility.

The facility includes a “high-tech, airport-hangar-sized structure of 6,000 square meters (about 65,000 square feet), which ties a stage at Pinewood London as the world’s largest film stage. Once completed, Wanda’s Movie Metropolis will contain China’s largest outdoor and indoor underwater stages, 221 acres of backlot and 45 soundstages comprising nearly twice the square footage of Universal, Hollywood’s biggest filmmaking facility” source: The Hollywood Reporter

There is an enormous opportunity for cooperation between China and Australia on productions destined for Chinese screens as well as for Australian audiences and the broader market. We have recently had the Mandarin language remake of the hot TV series Chosen filming here in Sydney and many MCTV actors have featured in TV commercials filmed here in Sydney and shown only in China.

“China itself has more cinema screens than any other country in the world,” AACTA chief executive officer Damien Trewhella said. Wanda, the company behind Qingdao Movie Metropolis is also the new owner of  Hoyts cinemas in Australia.

AACTA is driving a push for further collaboration between Australia and China and Screen Australia has a funding program available for such collaboration.

I signed up with MCTV yesterday and they applied me for 5 jobs already, one of which was successful. So excited to be back in business after long break. Looking forward working with you guys!

Dragana Gambiroza-Lazic

I’ve been with MCTV for a few years now and found them wonderful. I’ve had a much better experience than with my last agency and am particularly impressed by their management of my daughter through Joey’s

Elizabeth Bouris

Within my first month, I’ve been considered 3 times, got an audition for a TVC, and then a call back. And even a job offer with a leading Bank.
I signed my children with the agency & while I was at the office, Paul gave us a casting for the kids the same afternoon.

See Myshell

M.C.T.V has been very good to me for over three years now! I do appreciate their efforts in finding me work in four major motion pictures and other jobs
