The great news from last week was that a new big budget film will be starting production in Sydney soon. With big name stars like Bryan Brown, Sam Neill, Greta Scacchi and the film will be based at Sydney’s beautiful Palm Beach. With a budget of over $5m we expect production will take several months and provide many opportunities for featured and background actors to support this great cast.
Every week we submit our talent for TV commercials and promos. These are just some of the ones our talent have been submitted for and worked on over the past couple of weeks.
There are loads more for various insurance companies, government departments, fashion retailers, Cruise lines, finance companies and that’s just in the past two weeks.
Finally the secret is out. I think by now we all know that the Son of Dundee trailer isn’t a real movie, but hey what a great Ad. We are so proud to have been involved in what has to be one of the best Tourism Australia commercials in years. Over 25 of our MCTV background actors appear in the jet-boat and restaurant scenes. In fact, one of our background actors is getting an upgrade to featured because she was so noticeable in the jet boat.
Such a big deal to be on a Superbowl ad, an even bigger deal to be doing it for something as positive as Tourism Australia.
Put your hands together for our little red headed legend Zakk who did a fantastic job in the recent Kmart Christmas campaign. What’s great about this campaign is the on top of the healthy fee for the initial appearance, Zakk received several additional payments as they expanded the campaign to cinemas and sporting stadiums. Well done Zakk, hope you had a great Christmas.
181 MCTV people worked on the new Pacific Rim Uprising movie and it’s about to hit our screens really soon. To get us ready for the impending March 22 release, a new trailer has dropped showing some of the heart pumping scenes. Great work everyone, another one to look forward to.
Last season of The Checkout, MCTV had almost 60 people appear from April through to June. We look forward to supplying people for the newest season about to start tonight at 8pm on ABC. To get you in the mood, here’s a baking ad parody that you might enjoy.
With the new Peter Rabbit film just around the corner (February 9) you might be surprised by how many people worked on this animated film. Over 1700 people from Animal Logic (based here in Sydney) worked on the film and MCTV people made their contribution too with 59 people involved in the mixed animation / live action scenes. Can’t wait to see this on the big screen with the kids. Well done to everyone.
Over 6o MCTV actors worked on a new ABC telemovie Riot from August through to October last year. The trailer is now out and it will hit our screens on Sunday 25th February at 8.30pm. Riot is about the 1970’s gay rights movement and some of the first protests for decriminalisation and what became the very first Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras.
Some more MCTV actors heading on set for Sando a new series for ABC comedy. Originally only expected to shoot for six weeks, a change in lead characters due to health reasons has caused some delays.
I’ve really enjoyed seeing this ad come on over the summer. It captures the feeling of an Aussie family summer just perfectly for me. We are proud to have had over 25 people involved in this great commercial. I’m sure it was “A lovely day” for you all on set.
