The Secrets She Keeps started shooting on Monday here in Sydney with Downtown Abbey star Laura Carmichael and Jessica De Gouw. Carmichael plays Agatha, a shelf-stacker at the local supermarket who has a disturbing fascination with a regular customer, Meg.The first MCTV people to appear in the new series will be heading on set this Thursday and we hope there will be many more to come.
Paramount Pictures has bought the rights to “Down Under Cover” in a deal estimated to be worth $40 million. This is the first movie from Hemsworth’s new Australian production company that was announced in August last year and is expected to start shooing in February 2020.
Hemsworth will play a detective who goes undercover to crack a series of casino heists in which the suspects are a troupe of Australian male erotic dancers. Haddish will portray his partner. More info about the production available on variety.com.
You can get an early peek at the new Lambs of God series as part of the Sydney Film Festival. Lambs of God is “dark, gothic and twistedly-erotic”. The new series stars Ann Dowd, Essie Davis and Jessica Barden and includes around 25 background performers from MCTV. You can book tickets online for Wednesday 12 June at Dendy Opera Quays.
I love this new Kelloggs campaign with all the real Aussie characters they managed to find. They searched through thousands of people to find just the right kind of characters and we are so happy that they found Katie here with us at MCTV. Penguin Bloom is an unusual and inspirational story that is sure to touch many families. Based on the true story of Samantha Bloom, a young Sydney woman who broke her back after a railing snapped and she fell head-first six metres onto a concrete floor while holidaying with her family in Thailand in 2013.

Elisabeth Moss has signed to play an as yet unspecified role. This will be a big budget production from Universal Pictures which will be scripted and directed by Leigh Whannell (An Aussie known best for creating Saw 2004) . Shooting will start in July so it looks like a busy year given the new Marvel movie is shooting here too. More info about the Invisible man on Filmink.
The Unlisted was a great opportunity for around 30 MCTV kids with a small number of them clocking up significant hours on set. Now, the series has been picked up for international distribution by Netflix which increases the chances of a second season considerably. Of course, audiences will need to respond well to the production first but Netflix distribution is the first step along the way. Well done!
Palm Beach shot in Sydney last year and MCTV was invited to send background extras for the production between June and August. Now, the trailer has arrived and it makes Palm Beach look stunning.
