Hundreds of MCTV people have been given the opportunity to attend a go see for The Invisible Man. Go Sees are like an audition, but not for any specific role. The casting consultants see large groups of people and then match them to roles based on their suitability. It’s a an exciting chance to be a part of this new blockbuster film that will be shooting really soon in Sydney.
What a great surprise for Jasmin. When she was selected along with a group of other MCTV kids back in 2017 to play at a birthday party and get paid for it she was pretty happy. But then, as it turned out, she ended up being featured in the commercial (You can see her in the video below). What this means is that she scored a major boost to her pocket money with the amount almost tripling.
So good to see quality drama coming out of Australia. The trailer has certainly got me intrigued enough that I want to give this show a go when it hits Foxtel Showcase on July 21. I know everyone from MCT who have appeared in the series will be keen to tune in too.
Rollovers in the entertainment industry can be very lucrative indeed (and much better than when a car rolls over 😉). Who wouldn’t appreciate more $$$ for work they did 12 months ago or even after several years.
When MCTV negotiates the initial contracts for a TV Commercial, there are usage rights included in the agreement. For instance, it might include permission to use our performers’ images for up to 12 months on national television. At the end of that 12 months, the brand may decide that the commercial is running so well that it would like to extend for another 12 months. So, they have to pay all the performers an additional fee called a rollover. It’s pretty common to see rollover fees of several thousand for featured performers and tens of thousands for the main performer in a TV campaign.
We just sent the first background actors on set to the new comedy series Fam Time shooting in Sydney. So there are 6 different TV series filming in Sydney at the moment Doctor Doctor, Mr Inbetween, Les Norton, Between two worlds, The Secrets She Keeps and now Fam Time too. Fam Time is about a dysfunctional blended family who are addicted to their screens. It stars Michala Banas (Bad Mothers, Winners & Losers, Upper Middle Bogan) and Duncan Fellows (The Letdown, Laid). It’s the first narrative comedy from Seven nNetworks in over 20 years. Looking forward to more roles on this production over the coming months. More info in IF Magazine.
Another great job by Rebecca Matthews swearing an oath to support New South Wales while holding her beloved bumper sticker (complete with bumper itself). It’s a bit of fun in the lead up to State of Origin and has been doing the rounds on social media. With so many production companies working on social media content these days it provides great opportunities for talented people to show their skills. Good on you Rebecca!
Storm Reid has just signed on to play opposite Elisabeth Moss after her lead role in A Wrinkle in Time. We are already submitting people for roles in the new movie, but usually blockbusters like this are filmed over several months and can lead to hundreds of roles for our background actors. There have been so many great movies filmed in Sydney and it looks like this year we will have some more great ones. If you have been thinking about tying out as a background performer, don’t miss your chance to be on our books before the filming starts.
There’s a-lot to like about Hearts and Bones. It was filmed in Western Sydney and stars Hugo Weaving as a war photographer. The other lead actor has never acted in his life before. Andrew Luri was driving a garbage truck when he auditioned for the role. The directors were seeking a deep authenticity for this film so we are expecting something good. MCTV have a small number of background actors appearing in the film too. Tickets are on sale for premiere at the SFF website.
There has been an exciting lead up to the new movie which could be filming as little as several months away. There is much speculation on what the movie could be about. Some think it could be Black Widow. Others think it is a fourth Thor Movie. Then there are those who believe it will be Marvel’s first asian superhero movie Shang-Chi. No matter what, it’s going to be a big deal and we can hardly wait.
