Penguin Bloom has started shooting here in Sydney. Naomi Wattts and Andrew Lincoln were spotted in Avalon enjoying an afternoon of Jazz as reported by the Daily Mail. A large group of people from MCTV also had an opportunity to attend a go-see for the new movie and they all have their fingers crossed they will land a role.
Babyteeth filmed earlier this year and MCTV only had a handful of people involved in production but it’s a touching story and it certainly seems like one to keep an eye out for. It’s about a family with a seriously ill daughter who falls in love with a drug dealer. To be selected to compete in the Venice film festival is a high honour and we are so happy that this film is receiving such accolades. More info at IF Magazine.
Currently in pre production, Fallout is a six-part drama inspired by the 1950s British nuclear testing that took place in outback South Australia. Written and directed by Peter Duncan (Rake), the project has attracted a strong cast including Ewen Leslie, Jessica de Gouw, James Cromwell, Ningali Lawford Wolf and Shaka Cook. There are some great posts showing how blown away he is to be the lead role in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. Now, to top it all off he will be spending several months filming the new movie in Sydney later this year.
With this latest announcement we now have three major movies lined up at Disney / Fox Studios. First there’s the Invisible Man for which the first MCTV people are on set today. Then, right on it’s heels is the the first asian superhero movie from Marvel Shang-Chi and now we have the second instalment of the Thor franchise lined up after that called Thor: Love and Thunder. Diary of an Uber Driver starts on iView in August. Based on the experiences of a real Uber driver, this dramatisation might raise a few eyebrows. Congratulations to the dozen MCTV people who had a role in this production. Check out the trailer below.
According to Deadline Aldis Hodge has landed a role in The Invisible Man which is just about to shoot here in Sydney. Some MCTV people have already landed roles in the first few scenes but a big movie like this usually brings many more roles for background actors. The cast looks fantastic and there are hints that this movie could be more than you might expect from the title.
Over a hundred MCTV people have been on set now for the filming of Les Norton. Les is a loveable larrikin bouncer for an illegal casino nightclub in the cross. The whole series is set in the eighties and will have nostalgic moments for those old enough to remember. The Sydney Morning Herald has published a nice article talking about the production and giving a rare glimpse into like on set.
The first MCTV people are heading to set this week for The Commons a thriller which plays out at the intersection of climate change and the cutting edge of biotechnology. Starring Golden Globe winner Joanne Froggatt (Liar, Downton Abbey, A Crooked Somebody) and supported by Damon Herriman (Once Upon A Time in Hollywood, Judy and Punch, Stan’s Perpetual Grace, LTD).
