Meet the 7 magpies playing the role of Penguin

September 16, 2019/in Acting and Extras Work in Sydney /by MCTV

“Never work with children or animals.” is the famous quote by W.C. Fields, but this very cute picture of Penguin (The star of the movie Penguin Bloom) would have you thinking otherwise.

penguin

Of course it’s certainly not straight forward having a bird as the main star of your movie, so it was really interesting to see the casting board for the movie includes seven different magpies to play the role of Penguin. I’m sure it was a challenge finding birds that had very similar plumage. For once it makes our job of matching human talent to roles seem very simple.

Nuclear catastrophe drama Fallout filming in Sydney

September 9, 2019/in Acting and Extras Work in Sydney /by MCTV

maralinga

Already more than 30 MCTV people have been involved with Fallout which started filming in late August. It’s a six part drama series that covers the devastating nuclear tests held at Maralinga in outback South Australia. It’s fascinating to imagine the political environment that let another country detonate nuclear bombs on Australian soil. The series has already secured worldwide distribution rights from the French APC Studios.

Stan series The Commons shooting in Sydney

September 3, 2019/in Acting and Extras Work in Sydney /by MCTV

Golden-Globes-Joanne-Froggatt
This series is the biggest budget ($20M ) production by Stan yet. Almost 200 people from MCTV have already been on set for this production and we are still submitting more people each week. The Commons is a character-driven thriller which plays out at the intersection of climate change and the cutting edge of biotechnology. Part mystery, part relationship drama, it puts a very human face on what’s coming down the road and the heroism that lies inside us all when our backs are against the wall. The series stars Joanne Froggatt (Downton Abbey) and Damon Herriman (Once Upon a Time in Hollywood).

unlisted

Eighty two of our MCTV kids were lucky enough to be part of The Unlisted which shot earlier this year in Sydney. Now the trailer has dropped and you can see the Orwellian nightmare that the main character has found himself in. This series has also been picked up by Netflix for international distribution so let’s hope it gets renewed. For now, if you are one of the lucky eighty two there’s a chance to spot yourself in the trailer and on iView from September 15.

The streets of Sydney were transformed into a postcard from San Francisco for the filming of another scene of The Invisible Man. There was a huge group of lucky MCTV background extras lucky enough to be included in Saturday’s shoot. Brenden Wood from channel 7 captured some of what was going on and shared it on his twitter feed. There’s even a short video showing everyone lining up and waiting for them to call “Action”.

I love the beginning of this trailer (below) when he is talking to the police. Only Ray could pull off a line like that when talking to the police.

164 MCTV people were involved with shooting Mr Inbetween Season 2. It looks like season 2 is going to be just as good as season 1 was (Yay!).

I signed up with MCTV yesterday and they applied me for 5 jobs already, one of which was successful. So excited to be back in business after long break. Looking forward working with you guys!

Dragana Gambiroza-Lazic

I’ve been with MCTV for a few years now and found them wonderful. I’ve had a much better experience than with my last agency and am particularly impressed by their management of my daughter through Joey’s

Elizabeth Bouris

Within my first month, I’ve been considered 3 times, got an audition for a TVC, and then a call back. And even a job offer with a leading Bank.
I signed my children with the agency & while I was at the office, Paul gave us a casting for the kids the same afternoon.

See Myshell

M.C.T.V has been very good to me for over three years now! I do appreciate their efforts in finding me work in four major motion pictures and other jobs
