September 28, 2023/in Acting and Extras Work in Sydney /by MCTV

Back in 2017 MCTV members worked on ‘Ladies in Black’, the Bruce Beresford directed hit movie about a group of women working in a department store in late 1950s Sydney.

Screen Australia has just announced funding for a six part TV series ‘Ladies in Black’ for the ABC. Gracie Otto will direct and the series will share some of the original production team from the film version.

‘The Last Goodbye’

September 27, 2023/in Acting and Extras Work in Sydney /by MCTV

‘The Last Goodbye’ (working title) is a three-part series for SBS that explores Australia’s changing attitudes and approaches to death and the various ways in which our nation chooses to farewell and remember our dead.

The series has been financed in association with SBS, with support from Screen NSW as part of the $2.2 million funding package for 5 documentaries announced in August.

While on the subject of death, this image is from ‘Pretty Little Liars’ (2011) and was filmed at a dedicated film grave at Mountain View, Altadena in the US. “Between two plots containing actual human remains is “an empty grave we have that’s protected with steel so actors can get inside.” You can read more about this quirky film location on Vulture. The grave has been used for film shoots for over 30 years and even gets credits!

Good luck to everyone who has been submitted so far.

‘Artful Dodger’ 29 November 23

September 11, 2023/in Acting and Extras Work in Sydney /by MCTV

Disney+ has announced a global premiere date of November 29 for new Aussie original series ‘The Artful Dodger’. The series will premiere in the US on Hulu and in Australia on Disney+.

The series, which stars Thomas Brodie-Sangster, David Thewlis and Maia Mitchell, is an irreverent follow-up to Charles Dickens’ ‘Oliver Twist’. The series is set in 1850s Australia where Jack Dawkins, aka young rogue The Artful Dodger (Brodie-Sangster), is now all grown up and has transferred his skills as a pickpocket to the nimble fingers of a surgeon.

His past returns to haunt him with the arrival of Fagin (Thewlis), luring him back into a world of crime, while the local governor’s daughter (Maia Mitchell), who is determined to become the colony’s first female surgeon, appears to be a greater threat, at least to his heart.

Congratulations to the 24 MCTV people who worked on this – looks fabulous! More to come….

I signed up with MCTV yesterday and they applied me for 5 jobs already, one of which was successful. So excited to be back in business after long break. Looking forward working with you guys!

Dragana Gambiroza-Lazic

I’ve been with MCTV for a few years now and found them wonderful. I’ve had a much better experience than with my last agency and am particularly impressed by their management of my daughter through Joey’s

Elizabeth Bouris

Within my first month, I’ve been considered 3 times, got an audition for a TVC, and then a call back. And even a job offer with a leading Bank.
I signed my children with the agency & while I was at the office, Paul gave us a casting for the kids the same afternoon.

M.C.T.V has been very good to me for over three years now! I do appreciate their efforts in finding me work in four major motion pictures and other jobs
