Julian and Hem did a great job promoting the new “My CA” app and website for upcoming certified accountants. It’s a great example of the diversity of work that’s available through MCTV. With so much online content these days, there are plenty of opportunities to gain experience as an Actor and get paid too.
Exciting news that a new feature film Puff will be starting filming later this year after receiving funding from Screen Australia. Visual artist Del Kathryn Barton will direct the film and has based it upon her 12 metre wide paining (in the picture behind Del) and of course the 1963 song by Peter Paul and Mary “Puff the Magic Dragon”. It’s great to see another production starting up and this one may well have a few extra roles for kids. It’s a fascinating project and one we are looking forward to being involved with. This is the first time an Australian produced drama has debuted in primetime on the BBC flagship channel BBC One. All filmed around Sydney with over 50 MCTV people appearing, this is a very encouraging sign for Australian made TV Drama. Let’s hope we see more and more productions of this calibre being produced in Sydney soon. More info on the IF Website.
Such great news to see that Jungle Entertainment is resuming production on their latest comedy Wakefield. The cast for the series is fantastic and reads like a who’s who of Australian comedy. Around two dozen MCTV background actors were involved with shooting back in March before production shut down and a restart of production is very good news. Not only is it good news for MCTV background actors wanting to get back out on set but also great news for our TV screens. The team at Jungle Entertainment have a great track record of producing quintessentially Australian comedy and I for one can’t wait to see Wakefield when it’s released. More info on the IF website.
Now that things are picking up again for the film industry in Sydney and it looks like most of the productions will be starting again soon, the days are numbered for our 2 years for the price of one offer. We started the offer when COVID hit to give people a big bonus for signing up or renewing during difficult times. Once all the main productions do resume, this offer may end too.
Some Sydney locals have posted shots from what they speculate is part of the set for the Shang-chi movie. Between that and the recent posts on social media it seems like the team behind the movie is gearing up for a restart as soon as possible. We can’t wait to get back up and running because this was only the first of the three blockbusters set to shoot here in Sydney. Now that there is a push to bring more films down under we could have a busy end to the year.

We were delighted to receive the news that Mr Inbetween has been renewed for a third season. MCTV had around 300 people on the first two seasons, so this is great news for our background and featured actors who will be looking forward to production starting soon. If you haven’t already seen Mr Inbetween, it’s definitely worth a look. It’s received critical acclaim both her and overseas. Ray Shoesmith is a hitman with a strong moral compass and couldn’t be more typically Aussie. It’s great to see stories like this win foreign audiences over. We’ve all needed a bit of comedic relief during the pandemic and I was quite surprised to see how well At Home Alone Together works as a satirical and surreal take on the traditional home improvement format. So impressive how quickly they put the whole series together too. We’ve had a small number of people involved in the production which has been great. You can check out the series on iView.
We all can’t wait to get back into production for Back to the Rafters ( The packed to the rafters reboot that was filming before covid struck.)
