Meet ‘The World’s Greatest Movie Extra’

Jesse Heiman has more than 200 credits to his name appearing in movies such as ‘The Social Network, Catch Me If You Can, Chuck, Glee, How I Met Your Mother and The Big Bang Theory’. This interview with The Morning show gives some great insights into what it’s like to be a background extra. Jesse been able to rub shoulders with some very high profile celebrities and generally have a lot of fun.

Daniel Jovanov in worldwide G-Energy campaign

You’ve got to check out this series of TV Commercials with our very own Daniel Jovanov and his ‘Human Car Sounds’. He has been picked up by motor oil brand G-Energy to do an amusing series of TV commercials which are shown in various parts of the world as you can see from the clips below. I think you’d agree that Daniel has done a great job and had an awful lot of fun with this one. What’s great about getting a global campaign like this is that MCTV negotiates a fee for each region that the commercial is played in and a repeat fee if the commercial gets renewed. Lucky for Daniel it’s already been renewed for Russia, Moldova, Uzbekistan, Egypt Italy, China and the list goes on.

 

Marvel blockbuster resumes filming in Sydney

Check out the behind the scenes footage of the new Shang-Chi set filmed by the Channel 7 chopper yesterday. We’re very happy that things are slowly returning to normal with Wakefield and Shang-Chi already resumed and more and more TV commercials filming around Sydney too. We are also submitting for the new movie based on Puff the Magic Dragon that will start filming soon. If you want to be involved as a background extra on these productions and many of the other shoots coming up around Sydney, it’s a great time to join.

It's not Asia and it's not Hollywood; it is Western Sydney, home to the newest addition of the Marvel movie franchise….

All the latest productions filmed in NSW

If you want a quick 2 minute overview of all the recent movies and TV series that MCTV has had talent in, the latest Screen NSW showreel is basically it. It proudly highlights the wide variety of great work that our screen production industry has developed in recent years. This is all part of the recent pitch to get more international films and TV Series produced in Sydney. Given that thousands of MCTV people are represented in these productions we are certainly keen supporters. I am Woman available on Stan tonight.

We are proud to say that 113 MCTV people were involved with the production of I Am Woman which premieres on STAN tonight. I am woman follows a struggle that would be familiar to any single mother living in the sixties and seventies or today. The fact that her iconic song “I Am Woman” becomes the anthem for the second wave feminist movement seems a fitting reward for the struggle. The film has been well received by critics as it toured the festivals last year and it’s great to see it get a release here in Australia.

$400m government funding for blockbusters to shoot downunder

A huge round of applause for the federal government in boosting funding for foreign productions filming in Australia! We expect thousands of new background extra roles over the next few years due to the foreign investment that this attracts. The last funding round in 2018 attracted movies like Peter Rabbit, Thor, The Invisible Man, Shang Chi and Alien Covenant. Each of these movies usually generates roles for 200 – 300 MCTV people and so many other roles for production people too. The great news is that the last funding round was only $140m and this new round is $400m, so we should expect a significant boom in productions in the near future. The other great thing is that the productions have to compete for this funding so only the ones offering the greatest benefit to Australia will win the tax offsets.
