Wakefield Premieres April 2

March 18, 2021/in Acting and Extras Work in Sydney, Online Video /by MCTV

Check out this trailer for the new psychological mystery series, Wakefield. Set in the Blue Mountains, the series explores themes of mental illness, family and race with intelligence, humour and heart. All 8 episodes will be available to stream on iView from April 2.

The show features many familiar faces including Mandy McElhinney (Bad Mothers, Squinters) and Geraldine Hakewill (Wanted, Miss Fisher’s Modern Murder Mysteries), Ryan Corr (Love Child, Packed to the Rafters) and Kym Gyngell (Underbelly, The Straits). Over 20 MCTV members also feature and in background and extras roles.

Executive Producer for Jungle Entertainment (who made the show in partnership with BBC Studios), Chloe Rickard says, “Wakefield is undeniably authentic, poetic and powerful. Despite one in five Australians living with mental illness in their lifetime, social stigma on the issue of mental health still prevails – this series gets right to the heart of this controversial issue, whilst being hugely entertaining.”

“It’s still the same beautiful show that it always was…I think people really want to see something wholesome and beautiful and a reunion of the beautiful family.”

TVCs Galore

March 12, 2021/in Acting and Extras Work in Sydney /by MCTV

There are so many large scale TV and movie productions happening in Sydney at the moment, that it’s easy to forget that the ‘bread and butter’ work of producing TV commerials, or TVCs as we know them, is still happening.

MCTV places hundreds of people on TVCs every year. Many are chosen for their unique qualities (such as a granny that can rollerskate) but very often they are required to be an everyday type of person – for example a Mum or Dad or officeworker.  MCTV also supplies “crowds” for commercials that require a large number of people such as street scenes or sports grounds.

The work is short, but sweet, as the pay is usually good. Sometimes the ads have become famous in their own right, such as the annual Australia Day Lamb ads (above).

This month we have been submitting for the following campaigns Westfield, Optus, RAMS, Harmony Day, Bonds, Ola, Betfair, Sydney Water, NRL, AFL, Vodka Cruiser, Qantas and CBA. Best of luck to everyone who was submitted.

Total Control Series 2

March 11, 2021/in Acting and Extras Work in Sydney /by MCTV

Submissions are happening for Series 2 of Total Control, with filming set to commence in Sydney, Canberra and regional Queensland soon. The original series aired on ABC TV in October 2019 and was loved by critics and audiences alike and featured over 60 MCTV members. The storyline followed political newcomer Alex Irving (Deborah Mailman) who engineered remarkable coup, unseating the Prime Minister and the woman who betrayed her, Rachel Anderson (Rachel Griffiths).  You can catch up with Series 1 here.

Series 2 is set to focus on the ultimate test in a democratic system: the nation is going to the polls and Alex (Mailman) will have to face the judgement of the people.

More Thor Peeks

March 5, 2021/in Acting and Extras Work in Sydney /by MCTV

Filming on Thor, Love and Thunder is continuing at Fox Studios and Little Bay Golf Course, as reported by 7NEWS. The golf course set is reported to be on the cliff edge, a dramatic contrast from the previous Centennial Park location. The range of locations is further cementing Sydney’s role as the new Hollywood.

Melissa McCarthy and Ben Falcone  are the latest megastars to join Chris Hemsworth, Matt Damon and Idris Elba on the Marvel epic. They are reported to be very excited to be included in the movie after sending a request to Director, Taika Waititi at Christmastime. It seems everyone wants to be involved in this movie!!

More New Kids Drama

March 3, 2021/in Acting and Extras Work in Sydney /by MCTV

ABCTV has just commissioned two new live action series, Parent Up and the PM’s Daughter.

A comedy action series for 8-13 year olds, Parent Up follows Yu Na and Min Park, who want more excitement in their lives. However, they don’t realise just how crazy their lives will become when they discover their once unremarkable parents are actually international spies and have disappeared in suspicious circumstances.

The PMs’ Daughter tells the story of Catalina Parkes Pérez (Cat to her friends) who, like any other teenager, wants to fight the powers that be. There’s just one complication: her mother is the Prime Minister of Australia. The show will be written and produced by a dedicated team including Tristram Baumber, Lou Sanz, Alice Willison (above).

Both series are scheduled for 10 episodes will join other excellent, locally produced ABC kids programs, such as the award winning Hardball.

I signed up with MCTV yesterday and they applied me for 5 jobs already, one of which was successful. So excited to be back in business after long break. Looking forward working with you guys!

Dragana Gambiroza-Lazic

I’ve been with MCTV for a few years now and found them wonderful. I’ve had a much better experience than with my last agency and am particularly impressed by their management of my daughter through Joey’s

Elizabeth Bouris

Within my first month, I’ve been considered 3 times, got an audition for a TVC, and then a call back. And even a job offer with a leading Bank.
I signed my children with the agency & while I was at the office, Paul gave us a casting for the kids the same afternoon.

M.C.T.V has been very good to me for over three years now! I do appreciate their efforts in finding me work in four major motion pictures and other jobs
