MCTV shines in half yearly box office

June 17, 2021/in Acting and Extras Work in Sydney /by MCTV

Screen Hub have released a run down of local and international box office takings for the first half of this year. Productions featuring MCTV talent have topped the list with 4 of the top 6 Aussie box office takers productions we supplied talent for (Peter Rabbit 2, Penguin Bloom, June Again and Long Story Short). The other 2 were filmed interstate!!

Peter Rabbit 2 had over 100 MCTV extras. The movie has now made approximately $75 million and is showing all around the world including the US, UK, Russia, Mexico, New Zealand and China. This is an amazing effort given that cinemas are operating at reduced capacity.

Congratulations to everybody who worked on these top Sydney productions!

Age an Advantage

June 16, 2021/in Acting and Extras Work in Sydney /by MCTV

Congratulations to John A who landed this print and web campaign for Catholic Healthcare. It may surprise you to know that we get loads of requests for our older members.  Think about the many ads for insurance, retirement or family based scenarios on TV that feature a ‘grandma’ or ‘grandpa’ character.  We have even supplied a “roller skating granny” for one campaign. Work can be at short notice or require a ‘go see’ so it’s perfect for semi-retired or retired people.

If you, or someone you know has some spare time and would like to make some money out of your years of experience check out how it works here.

She is also intrigued by the Sydney weather…she’s not alone there!

Submissions & jobs still happening for this one, keep up the good work everyone!

SBS Digital Originals

June 11, 2021/in Acting and Extras Work in Sydney /by MCTV

The Digital Originals Initiative by Screen Australia, SBS and NITV provides funding for short, web series format productions as a way of fostering emerging practitioners. The first of these projects to be completed is The Tailings, which premiered on SBS On Demand in April. Submissions are happening now for another project developed under the scheme, “A Beginner’s Guide to Grief”.

Exploring themes of death, grief and identity, this series is written by South Australian Anna Lindner. This  8 x 12 minute drama/comedy about 28-year-old Harriet Wylde, who returns to her home town in remote South Australia to care for two terminally ill parents. When both pass away within weeks of each other, she’s forced to face her ultimate fear: absolute aloneness. But when she reconnects with a dysfunctional childhood friend Daisy, Harriet discovers that grief doesn’t play by any rules and soon, neither will she.

Good luck to everyone who has been submitted!

12 projects were selected this year to be developed under the program, with a chance for up to 4 to continue along the path to production. This is a great initiative to get encourage new talent in the industry and increase the diversity of stories which make it to our screens.

Jessica accomplished what many thought impossible, navigating some of the world’s most challenging stretches of oceans and surviving seven knockdowns while at sea for 210 days.

The movie will star Aussie actress Teagan Croft (Titans, Home and Away, The Osiris Child), with filming taking place in both Sydney and Queensland. Jessica Watson is a consultant on the movie which will be helmed by Aussie director, Sarah Spillane. You can read more details here.

After almost 6 months of continuous filming, Thor: Love and Thunder has wrapped in Sydney with Chris Hemsworth and Taika Waititi both posting heartfelt farewells to this phase of the production.

Now the long wait until May 6 2022 to see the results of all the hard work by Director Taika Waititi and his all star cast including Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Christian Bale, Tessa Thompson, Matt Damon and a heap of MCTV extras. Congratulations to all the cast and crew.

Don’t worry if you missed out on being a part of the action this time. Reports of a 5 year deal to relocate Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) productions to Sydney could see many more opportunities to work on blockbusters like Thor: Love and Thunder. Read the story here and watch this space.

Dragana Gambiroza-Lazic

I’ve been with MCTV for a few years now and found them wonderful. I’ve had a much better experience than with my last agency and am particularly impressed by their management of my daughter through Joey’s

Elizabeth Bouris

Within my first month, I’ve been considered 3 times, got an audition for a TVC, and then a call back. And even a job offer with a leading Bank.
I signed my children with the agency & while I was at the office, Paul gave us a casting for the kids the same afternoon.

See Myshell

M.C.T.V has been very good to me for over three years now! I do appreciate their efforts in finding me work in four major motion pictures and other jobs
