Wolf Teaser Drops

December 15, 2021/in Acting and Extras Work in Sydney /by MCTV

Stan has dropped the first trailer for ‘Wolf Like Me’. The 6 part drama series starring Isla Fisher and Josh Gad was filmed in Sydney and outback NSW earlier this year.

The series, which is described as a dark romantic dramedy centres around the relationship between Gary (Gad) and Mary (Fisher). Everyone brings their own set of baggage to a new relationship and Gary and Mary are no different.

As Mary and Gary’s universes collide, all the signs are telling Mary they’re meant to be in each other’s lives. However, things aren’t always so simple and as their connection deepens, Mary and Gary grow more and more terrified their respective baggage will tear them apart.

All 6 episodes will be available on Stan on January 13. Look out for the 53 MCTV members who worked on this one. Great work everyone!

ABC TV has announced its 2022 production slate, with a key focus on drama. Among the new drama productions is ‘Significant Others’. The 6 part drama series details the aftermath of when Sarah, a single mother of two teenagers, vanishes under the waves during her morning swim. Created by award-winning writer, Tommy Murphy (pictured), the series is being produced by Fremantle for the ABC, with Matt Reeder as series producer. Fremantle’s Chris Oliver-Taylor and Justin Davies are executive producing alongside Louise Smith and Sally Riley from the ABC.

Production Records Smashed!

December 8, 2021/in Acting and Extras Work in Sydney /by MCTV

Despite the drama of the pandemic, Australia’s Film and TV industry has had a bumper year with $1.914 billion total Australian expenditure – a new record spend, and nearly double last year’s, driven by Australian and foreign features.

The figures, contained in Screen Australia’s annual Drama Report, cover the production of feature films, TV drama (mini-series, telemovies and series/serials) and online drama programs by financial year.

With 48% of the total Australian spend, New South Wales accounted for the greatest share of total expenditure. Spend of $912 million was almost double last year and a new record high.

There was also record expenditure by Australian titles – $874 million, or 46% of total expenditure was triggered by Australian titles that started principal photography during 2020/21.

42 Australian features – $500 million, a significant increase on last year and 57% above the 5-year average.

63 foreign projects – $1.04 billion a record total, more than double 2019/20’s foreign project spend, comprised of:

  • Record spend of $793 million on three features, two TV dramas and five online dramas that commenced shooting in Australia, significantly up on last year’s spend.

This is a great result for our local industry and demonstrates once again that Australia is a worldwide centre of film and TV production.

MCTV has provided talent for projects across the spectrum of content outlined in the report. Congratulations and thank you to all our members who have worked so professionally under the difficult circumstances of the pandemic. For the full report, you can head to Screen Australia.

We are very happy to announce that school is officially back in session at Hartley High. With her new friends – outsiders Quinni (Chloe Hayden)and Darren (James Majoos) – Amerie must repair her reputation, while navigating love, sex, and heartbreak.

Class of ’07

November 23, 2021/in Acting and Extras Work in Sydney /by MCTV

Submissions are underway for ‘Class of ’07’, an eight-part Australian original comedy series commissioned by Amazon Prime Video. Class of ‘07 is created by writer and director Kacie Anning (Upload, The Other Guy, Hardball) and produced by Matchbox Pictures.

When an apocalyptic tidal wave hits during the ten-year reunion of an all-girls high school, a group of women must find a way to survive on the island peak of their high school campus. Like Lord of the Flies (in cocktail dresses), the series follows a group of former classmates, now freshly entangled in decade-old drama, as they attempt to survive not just the apocalypse but each other.

More details to come on this one. Best of luck to everyone who has been submitted so far.

I signed up with MCTV yesterday and they applied me for 5 jobs already, one of which was successful. So excited to be back in business after long break. Looking forward working with you guys!

Dragana Gambiroza-Lazic

I’ve been with MCTV for a few years now and found them wonderful. I’ve had a much better experience than with my last agency and am particularly impressed by their management of my daughter through Joey’s

Elizabeth Bouris

Within my first month, I’ve been considered 3 times, got an audition for a TVC, and then a call back. And even a job offer with a leading Bank.
I signed my children with the agency & while I was at the office, Paul gave us a casting for the kids the same afternoon.

See Myshell

M.C.T.V has been very good to me for over three years now! I do appreciate their efforts in finding me work in four major motion pictures and other jobs
