Three Thousand Years to Cannes

March 18, 2022/in Acting and Extras Work in Sydney /by MCTV

Huge excitement after the announcement that George Miller’s new movie ‘Three Thousand Years of Longing’ will have its world premiere at Cannes this year, as reported by Variety.

The movie, which was shot in Sydney in 2020 and includes MCTV extras, is described as a fantasy/romance/drama.

Plot details have been kept tightly under wraps, but ‘Three Thousand Years’ tells the story of a lonely and bitter British woman who discovers an ancient bottle while on a trip to Istanbul and unleashes a djinn who offers her three wishes. Filled with apathy, she is unable to come up with a wish until his stories spark in her a desire to be loved. Tilda Swinton and Idris Elba both have leading roles.

The Cannes Film Festival will run May 17-28 and will celebrate its 75th edition.  Hoping a trailer is out soon – watch this space!

Wellmania well underway

March 17, 2022/in Acting and Extras Work in Sydney /by MCTV

Wellmania, the new Netflix series starring Celeste Barber is currently shooting in Sydney. The Daily Mail has released pictures of Barber in Bronte sporting cupping marks – most likely courtesy of the make up department, not an alternative therapist!

The 8 part series, based on the bestselling book ‘Wellmania: Misadventures in the Search for Wellness’ by Brigid Delaney follows Liv, a ‘human tornado’ who experiences a health crisis and as a result throws herself into a wellness journey.

MCTV has been sending extras to the set for a couple of weeks now. Thanks to everyone who has braved the weather and transport chaos to be involved.

BTS with the Best

March 11, 2022/in Acting and Extras Work in Sydney /by MCTV

As many of you already know, film and TV sets are very busy places, running high on creative energy of the cast and crew. By contrast, the images produced by John Platt, one of the industry’s best unit still photographers, are serene and a great record of loads of recent local productions, such as ‘Bump‘, ‘Total Control‘, ‘The Commons‘, ‘The Secrets She Keeps‘, ‘Fury Road‘ and ‘The Drovers Wife‘.

Each image is a fascinating insight into the people and equipment that make the magic we see on our screens. John’s instagram is full of personal insights into the productions and crews that he features.

Check out John’s website and Instagram @johnplattphotos for more stunning behind the scenes shots, as well as cast & crew portraits. You might even spot someone you recognise from working on these productions!!

Paid to Watch?

March 3, 2022/in Acting and Extras Work in Sydney /by MCTV

It looks like live audiences are back after a COVID shutdown over the last couple of years. This week we have sent loads of MCTV members to the set of ‘Beauty and the Geek’ to get paid to watch the show as part of a live audience during filming.

In the past we have sent extras to be audiences for major local shows such as ‘The Voice’, ‘The Masked Singer’ as well as some international programs such as ‘Name that Tune’, which was for the US market.

If this sounds like a great way to earn some extra cash, you can find out more here.

NCIS Coming to Sydney

February 21, 2022/in Acting and Extras Work in Sydney /by MCTV

We are so excited that the immensely popular NCIS mega-franchise has announced it’s coming to Sydney. ‘NCIS: Sydney’ will be the first of the franchise spin-offs to be set outside the U.S. Previous spin-offs such as ‘NCIS: New Orleans’ and ‘NCIS: Los Angeles’ have been shown in over 200 international markets.

Launching exclusively on Paramount+ and Network 10 in Australia and internationally on Paramount+ in 2023, the original series will feature local stories and will also include the talents of Shane Brennan, the Aussie who created ‘NCIS: Los Angeles’.

As reported in IF Magazine, Brennan said the announcement reflected a “massive vote of confidence” in the Australian industry.

“It means writers, directors, actors, and crew will have the opportunity to showcase their talent producing an Australian version of a franchise that is recognised around the world,” he said.

“The series will have a uniquely Australian feel but will deliver all the drama and thrills of this franchise against the backdrop of our most recognised and iconic city.

“CBS Studios and Paramount+’s decision adds to Australia’s burgeoning reputation as being the place to make cost effective, high quality, writer-driven drama for a worldwide audience.”

Production is set to start this year, cast announcements have yet to be made. Watch this space!!

Madison Knight coming to the screen

February 19, 2022/in Acting and Extras Work in Sydney /by MCTV

Fans of the ‘Madison Knight’ series of books by Carolyn Arnold will be excited to hear they are being made into an 8 hour TV series. The production will be filmed in Sydney and in the wilds of British Columbia, Canada.

Australian actress Hélène Joy (‘Durham County,’ ‘Murdoch Mysteries’), who has spent most of her career in Canada is set to star as Madison Knight. Orion Lee (‘First Cow’) will portray Knight’s work partner, Detective Steven Hung.

Joy describes Madison Knight as “unapologetic, unpredictable and deeply flawed. An extremely reluctant heroine if you will. What I love most is her sardonic nature and deeply sarcastic sense of humour. She doesn’t suffer fools and has little time for small talk.”

You can read more about the production here. More to come on this one in coming weeks…

February 17, 2022/in Acting and Extras Work in Sydney /by MCTV

Currently shooting in Sydney is ‘Colin from Accounts’, a new eight episode romantic comedy series, commissioned by Binge with the support of Screen NSW. Patrick Brammall (‘No Activity‘, ‘A Moody Christmas’) and Harriet Dyer (‘Wakefield‘, ‘The Invisible Man‘), who are married in real life have created, written and star in the production.

Centred on Ashley (Dyer) and Gordon (Brammall), two single(ish), complex humans who are brought together by a car accident and an injured dog, ‘Colin from Accounts’ is about flawed, funny people choosing each other and being brave enough to show their true self, scars and all, as they navigate life together.

In another win for local content, the show has already been picked up for international distribution by CBS Studios.

Congratulations to everyone from MCTV who have scored roles on this so far. More to come…

I signed up with MCTV yesterday and they applied me for 5 jobs already, one of which was successful. So excited to be back in business after long break. Looking forward working with you guys!

Dragana Gambiroza-Lazic

I’ve been with MCTV for a few years now and found them wonderful. I’ve had a much better experience than with my last agency and am particularly impressed by their management of my daughter through Joey’s

Elizabeth Bouris

Within my first month, I’ve been considered 3 times, got an audition for a TVC, and then a call back. And even a job offer with a leading Bank.
I signed my children with the agency & while I was at the office, Paul gave us a casting for the kids the same afternoon.

M.C.T.V has been very good to me for over three years now! I do appreciate their efforts in finding me work in four major motion pictures and other jobs
