Paper Dolls brings Girl Bands Back

April 7, 2022/in Acting and Extras Work in Sydney /by MCTV

Set in 2000, ‘Paper Dolls’ follows the meteoric rise and fall of the fictional girl band INDIGO – a manufactured pop group born out of one of the first reality TV shows.

Desperate to escape their ordinary reality and with aspirations of pop-stardom, five hopeful women step into the spotlight only to find that their dream of fame is compromised by what it takes to achieve it.

As INDIGO is unleashed into the world to instant success and stardom, the girls’ connection with each other evolves from competition to confidants.

The series, written and created by Ainslie Clouston (Amazing Grace), appears to be loosely based on the story of Bardot – the all girl band that was launched from Seven’s 1999 program ‘Popstars’, the precursor to ‘Australian Idol’. Belinda Chapple, one of the original members of Bardot, has signed on as co-executive producer.

The series will be produced by Helium Pictures (‘Last King of the Cross‘, ‘6 Festivals‘). Production on ‘Paper Dolls’ is set to commence in Sydney later this year and will premiere on 10 in 2023. More to come on this one…

Last King of the Cross

April 1, 2022/in Acting and Extras Work in Sydney /by MCTV

Ian McShane (Deadwood, GoT, John Wick) has been cast in Paramount+ Australia’s drama ‘Last King of the Cross’ and will take on a major role. He will appear opposite Aussie actor Lincoln Younes (Barons), who stars as John Ibrahim. Production is due to begin in May.

‘Last King of The Cross’, is inspired by John Ibrahim’s best-selling autobiography, of the same name. The 10 episode series tracks John Ibrahim’s rise from a poverty-stricken immigrant with no education, no money, and no prospects, to Australia’s most infamous nightclub mogul in Kings Cross.

McShane will play Ezra Shipman. Shipman is the reigning King of The Cross. He has been the most powerful and most feared man in Sydney for three generations – but there is no one to continue his legacy. Enter John Ibrahim (Younes) – a younger version of Shipman: young, brash, ambitious, and intelligent. Seeing the opportunity to extend his reign, Shipman takes the young John into his inner circle… but who is exploiting who?

The series will be one of the first projects for Helium Pictures, Mark Fennessy’s new venture. Cineflix Rights are handling international distribution for this very local production.

I signed up with MCTV yesterday and they applied me for 5 jobs already, one of which was successful. So excited to be back in business after long break. Looking forward working with you guys!

Dragana Gambiroza-Lazic

I’ve been with MCTV for a few years now and found them wonderful. I’ve had a much better experience than with my last agency and am particularly impressed by their management of my daughter through Joey’s

Elizabeth Bouris

Within my first month, I’ve been considered 3 times, got an audition for a TVC, and then a call back. And even a job offer with a leading Bank.
I signed my children with the agency & while I was at the office, Paul gave us a casting for the kids the same afternoon.

See Myshell

M.C.T.V has been very good to me for over three years now! I do appreciate their efforts in finding me work in four major motion pictures and other jobs
