Hemsworth Supporting Aussie Made

June 18, 2022/in Acting and Extras Work in Sydney /by MCTV

Chris Hemsworth sees a bright future ahead for the Australian production industry. He remains committed to bringing more productions to Australia as he promotes his new Australian-made Netflix movie ‘Spiderhead’.

As reported in the Sydney Morning Herald, Hemsworth continues to show support for the local industry by insisting films are made here “The last three or four films I’ve done were supposed to shoot in Atlanta or the UK, and I said, ‘I’m not doing it unless it shoots here.'”

“I just prefer to be here; I’ve got three young kids and I love being here. I’ve travelled so much over the last few years and loved it, but this is my home. And half the time I see so many Australian crew members on sets overseas, and everyone’s saying the same thing: ‘Why couldn’t we have shot this back home?’ I feel thankful to be able to have an opinion in it, and that it’s worked out a few times the last few years.”

He also said the future of film in Australia is in a new phase of growth and renewal after some uncertainty:

“Because there was a period recently when there was a lot of uncertainty in the film industry, about, ‘How much work is there now?’ and ‘Are we making films any more?’ And that’s what’s been so great about working at home and talking to crew that have worked here for 40 years. There was a real dip in production, and now it feels like it’s reinvigorated and there’s another life to it. So it’s all positive.”

With a great variety of work at the moment in TV, Film and advertising we are feeling positive too.

£10 Poms in Sydney

June 15, 2022/in Acting and Extras Work in Sydney /by MCTV

The new BBC/Stan co- production ‘Ten Pound Poms’ is in production in Sydney. The 6 x 1 hour episodes follow a group of Brits as they leave dreary post-war Britain in 1956 to embark on a life-altering adventure on the other side of the world.

For only a tenner, they have been promised a better house, better job prospects and a better quality of life by the sea in sun-soaked Australia. Struggling with their new identity as immigrants, we follow their triumphs and pitfalls as they adapt to a new life in a new country far from Britain and familiarity. You can read more about the series and the part of history it fictionalises here.

The show has been created by BAFTA winning Danny Brocklehurst (pictured) and is being produced by Eleven (‘Sex Education’, ‘Red Rose’).

Plenty of submissions and people on set for this one. More to come…

Dragana Gambiroza-Lazic

I’ve been with MCTV for a few years now and found them wonderful. I’ve had a much better experience than with my last agency and am particularly impressed by their management of my daughter through Joey’s

Elizabeth Bouris

Within my first month, I’ve been considered 3 times, got an audition for a TVC, and then a call back. And even a job offer with a leading Bank.
I signed my children with the agency & while I was at the office, Paul gave us a casting for the kids the same afternoon.

M.C.T.V has been very good to me for over three years now! I do appreciate their efforts in finding me work in four major motion pictures and other jobs
