We are now regularly submitting talent to Top of the Lake Season 2 now that shooting has begun. I just want them to finish filming as soon as possible so I can see the new series. The suspense is killing me.
I still remember the Ad with “Mr Wong Mr Wong I’ve lost all my travellers cheques” from the 80’s. Looking back at it, it’s pretty dated as you might expect. For one thing who uses travellers cheques anymore. Ahh the eighties…
It’s good news then that MCTV talent were submitted last week for a new American Express commercial.
Production is continuing for the fourth series of A Place to Call Home and MCTV has been submitting more talent for what must be the final stages of production. MCTV people have been on set as far back as March last year and I know there were some huge fans of the show that had an opportunity to be part of the production.

This week MCTV talent were filming a new Woolworths Commercial. As you can see from this previous commercial, the background actors are having fun dancing along. This is a great example of how to get paid doing something that is fun and easy.
I don’t know if you have ever seen video of people having their cochlear implants turned on for the first time. It’s an astonishing and heartwarming moment that makes all the amazing work from the Cochlear team worthwhile. Some of our MCTV people last week had the privilege of shooting a new production to help educate customers about the benefits of Cochlear implants.
Of course, we’re not talking about real criminals here. MCTV talent are often asked to help with reenactments for shows like A Current Affair and Deadly Women. The requests we receive are quite amusing as you may be able to imagine. For these productions we really never know what kind of person we are going to need next. Often truth is stranger than fiction.
800 words is a joint effort between Channel 7 and South Pacific Pictures. The show is largely shot in New Zealand, but MCTV talent were on hand for some scenes being shot in Sydney. Season 2 hasn’t finished production yet, so who knows we might get another call for talent. Fingers Crossed!

Some of our talent were recently awarded upgrades for their work in the KFC Big Bash League. An upgrade happens when someone goes on set as an extra, but when the final production is finished, that extra was featured on camera for longer than normal or was asked to say a line or two that wasn’t originally required. MCTV reviews the footage when the job is complete and helps to identify who should be paid for an upgrade. That’s one of the perks of being an extra with MCTV.

We have all seen the litter. It’s hard to miss. Actually every minute no less than 15,000 bottles and cans are littered or landfilled in Australia. This represents more packaging waste per person than many overseas countries. Insane isn’t it? Fortunately a simple solution is at hand. It is called Cash for Containers or Container Deposit Scheme (CDS) and Coca-Cola is exerting tremendous pressure on policy makers to reject it.
