MCTV people in new GetUp! Campaign

GetUp! is a great group dedicated to being politically active. It doesn’t matter what side of politics you are aligned with, GetUp is all about people having their vote and showing the politicians what we think. MCTV is proud to be supplying talent for one of their latest campaigns.

Stand Ins for The Great Australian Bake Off

For reality programs like the Great Australian Bake Off, you only get one chance to capture the action. Rehearsals aren’t really an option but the producer needs to make sure that the sound, lighting and camera placement is just right before production begins.

That’s why MCTV has been supplying stand ins for reality shows like this. Our stand ins are roughly the same build and complexion as the people in the real production to allow the crew to get everything right before a big shoot. The stand ins get to be on set and work with the crew and directors so it’s still fun to do.

Bingo Ladies in new TVC for HCF

A handful of our more senior performers went off to the bingo hall this week to film a new ad for HCF. Although you might not expect it, we often get work for ages 55+. There are loads of banking , super and retirement TVCs where this age group is needed. It’s a great bit of fun and some extra income for the more vivacious retirees.

Get paid year after year with rollovers

How would you like it if I paid you thousands of dollars every year for work you did over 5 years ago. It sounds unbelievable, but we have people at MCTV who are being paid like this.

Iron Jay is a perfect example of this. He was asked to be a part of a TV, online and photographic campaign in 2011 and is still collecting rollovers for the work he did.

When an actor is featured in a TV Commercial, MCTV negotiates fees for ongoing use of their image which will be paid for as long as the campaign is in the media. In some cases, this will include an exclusivity clause which can add thousands more to the fee.

Of course not everyone is as lucky as Iron Jay, but we do have hundreds of talent receiving rollover fees every year.

We need highly experienced sailors for Alan Bond miniseries

UPDATE (6 Apr 2016) – We have had a great response to this post with over 170 sailors applying. We are sure we will be able to fill this role now so please do not send any more applications. 

A new miniseries about the life of Alan Bond will start filming in May. We are looking for highly experienced sailors for some of the scenes surrounding the America’s Cup campaign. If you are between 18 and 45 and have this type of experience, you should let Paul know right away. If you know someone who meets this criteria and would be interested in working in the background of this miniseries at award rates then please share this post. How about getting paid and having fun at the same time?

So many MCTV people join our agency to add a fun and interesting element to their lives. Working as a background extra or featured actor isn’t a full time job. It’s something you can do when you have flexible work or study arrangements.

You can spend your spare time on set on major TV and Film productions rubbing shoulders with the stars and seeing how the industry works. Then when the production finally makes it to air, you can show off your work to all your friends.

You do need to be responsible though. You must get to jobs on time and follow the instructions given to you on set. Often you will be asked to sign a non disclosure agreement that prevents you from sharing information about the shoot until after it makes it to the screen.
