After a cracking start to the year, we are ready for a break!

Richard Roxburgh and Rebecca Gibney have been announced as leads on new epic family drama ‘Prosper’.
Roxburgh (Rake, Bali 2002) will play Cal Quinn, the founder and global pastor of fictional Sydney megachurch U Star. Gibney (Back to the Rafters) is Abi Quinn, his wife and worship leader. While the family preaches messages of faith, love and acceptance to thousands of followers, behind closed doors, the they protect shameful secrets. You can find out more cast details here.
Filming is currently underway in Sydney and NSW.

When not on set, Sydney Sweeney has been busy sightseeing and posting her pics to social media. Sweeney has been in Sydney filming Will Gluck’s new romcom feature film. The movie also stars Glen Powell.
It’s pretty cool to see other stars gushing over Sydney, Kate Bosworth responding to one post with “Isn’t Sydney the best??? I lived there for about a year when I was your age,” wrote Bosworth. “Best time of my life. Soak it in beauty.”
The Sydney Morning Herald says Sydney’s pics are doing a great job of promoting the City to the rest of the world.

‘Strife’ is a new series based on Mia Freedman’s memoir ‘Work, Strife, Balance’, about a ‘modern imperfect woman’, Evelyn Jones, who goes from lounge room blogger to a force within women’s media.
The series is being produced for Binge by Made Up Stories (Nine Perfect Strangers, Pieces of Her, Roar, Wolf Like Me), and stars Asher Keddie as Evelyn. Matt Day, Jonathan LaPaglia, Tina Bursill, Emma Lung, and Maria Angelico have also been cast.

‘Wellmania’ premiered on March 29 at a star studded even in Bondi Junction and on Netflix. Star Celeste Barber looks radiant and relaxed with fellow cast members.
Since the premiere, the show has been getting rave reviews including 4 stars from The Guardian. We hope the 192 MCTV members who were involved are enjoying watching too!! Great work everyone!
‘Last King of the Cross’ has been a local hit for Paramount+ with it topping the ratings for locally produced shows on the streamer back in Feb. Check out this Global Breakouts article from Deadline, comparing the show to ‘Godfather’ and ‘Gomorrah’ and suggesting it might be the first in a new era of ‘high-end Australian scripted’ drama.
Mark Fennessy, who executive produced the series says the Australian production sector is in a “healthy state”. Deadline says “And with the likes of ‘Last King of the Cross‘, Netflix’s ‘Heartbreak High‘ and Disney+’s upcoming ‘Artful Dodger‘ adaptation emerging, Fennessy believes we are at a “new era and frontier” of Australian content, one in which shows like ‘Neighbours’ and ‘Home and Away‘ feel a thing of the past.”
All these productions require extras. The increasing popularity and international reach of Australian made seems set to continue and with it more roles for MCTV members. Well done to the over 125 members who worked on ‘Last King of the Cross’ – great work!

Submissions are happening now for ‘Erotic Stories’, a new 8 part drama series for SBS scheduled to screen later this year.
Each 30 minute episode in this anthology series will explore lust, desire, and longing from a different perspectives. The series explores diverse experiences of sex and intimacy across age, sexuality, race, gender and disability.
Niki Aken, Tamara Asmar, Alistair Baldwin, Christine Bartlett, Glace Chase, Marieke Hardy, Sara Khan and Sarah Walker have written the stories that will be produced by Lingo Pictures (‘The Secrets She Keeps‘).

Congratulations to Adam H who got to paid to hang out at the beach and have fun in the sun, shooting this ad for Cocobella. The ad was filmed on Sydney’s northern beaches late last year.

Cancel all your plans and grab the popcorn. Prime’s new Aussie black comedy, ‘Class of ’07’ has dropped.
The female-led, 8 part series explores new and old rivalries when an apocalyptic tidal wave hits during the 10 year reunion of an all girls high school. Emily Browning and Caitlin Stasey lead a great ensemble cast as they try to find a way to survive – not just the apocalypse, but each other. The show has benefitted from a big budget and looks great.

The reboot of popular 80s Aussie comedy series ‘Mother and Son’ has started filming in Sydney.
Matt Okine & Denise Scott will star in the roles made famous by Garry McDonald & Ruth Cracknell. It will screen on ABC later this year.
Heaps of people have already been on set and more submissions happening. Congratulations everyone, what an iconic series to be a part of.
