Happy Birthday Moulin Rouge!

Iconic Aussie movie Moulin Rouge! turns 20 this week! It had its Australian premiere on May 25 2001. Many, many MCTV members worked on this movie, which was one of the first international blockbusters to be filmed at the (then) new Fox Studios. The movie made $179.2 million at the box office off a $50 million budget and won 2 Academy awards, having been nominated for 8. Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor star along with Richard Roxburgh, Jim Broadbent and John Leguizamo in this “jukebox, musical, romantic drama” film directed by Aussie legend Baz Luhrmann.

Movies like Moulin Rouge! really brought Sydney to the world’s attention as a film making mecca and paved the way for all the great movies that have been flimed here over the past 2 decades including all of these. Much has changed in the 20 years since this movie was made, but MCTV remains, we’re still placing more people more often!!
